To say Manchester United are in a state of flux would be a big understatement. Despite the crucial win at Arsenal, United have been troubled on and off the pitch for over year.

The retirement of Sir Alex was always going to be a big deal and his loss was further compounded by the departures of a titanic back line just 12 months later. Losing Vidic, Rio and Evra at the same time continues to have ramifications for the team.

What Manchester United need now is some continuity. So it’s a little concerning to hear that Ryan Giggs is still considering a move away from the club. The Daily Mail reports:

‘I’ve been at the club for so long that I’m familiar with the club but if I want to further my coaching career or managing career and if it’s not at Manchester United then so be it, but I’ll just have to wait and see.

We genuinely believe that Ryan Giggs has the qualities to be a good Manchester United manager. He won’t be giving anyone the hairdryer anytime soon – his style would surely be much more gentle – but he has the drive, intelligence and football nous to succeed.

While LvG’s appointment was clearly the right one in retrospect we would love to see The Class of 92 take the reins when Louis leaves. The feeling off excitement with them at the helm, at the back end of last season, was the perfect antidote to the Moyes era and we think that they can do a great job between them in future.

So if Giggs does leave, many will hope that it’s just to complete his studies before he returns to the hot seat after The Dutchman has put Manchester United back on track.

United fans: can Giggsy manage the club successfully?
