He’s been out for 8 months and, despite his foibles, Tottenham have missed him. But Kyle Walker is finally ready to return to training after a protracted abdominal injury sustained in the spring.
He’s quoted as saying:
“It’s great to be back out there with the lads,”
“I’m taking it one step at a time, doing things correctly as I’ve been told, and I’ll see where I am in a couple of weeks.
“Everything is good at the moment. I’ll be even happier when I’m back playing but that’s the final step.”
Some Tottenham fans find the lad a bit gun-ho and he has been caught too far up the field on many an occasion. But he has the pace to usually recover from his adventurous forays and Spurs always look more dynamic with him in the side. It’s surely better to have a forward thinking full back in the team in the modern game, than a simple defender.
Capped 10 times by England he looked as if he could make the international jersey his own as Glen Johnson has waned in recent years. But injury has stunted his career after 134 games for Tottenham.
At his best he’s a flying machine with a wicked right foot and he generally makes a game more interesting in the same way as Patrice Evra usually would for Manchester United with his buccaneering style.
We think that Mauricio Pochettino will love him.
