Manchester United: The €1.8m Bargain – report

Sort it out son son son

If the Manchester United scouting network had got it right, we should have been enjoying one of the world’s finest talents in his peak at the club right now.

Because when Anderson was signed in 2007 for around £26m he was apparently a demi-god in the making. We all heard the stories about Martin Ferguson, United scout and brother or Sir Alex, telling the boss that this kid was going to be better than Rooney.

We all get it wrong in life. This just turned out to be a particularly bad call. And The Telegraph reports that if Manchester United can’t offload the player in January then they may consider paying the 1.8m wages remaining on his contract.

After showing such horrendous form for Manchester United over the last couple of years in particular you might say that 1.8m is a bargain to get him off the books!

Because in truth Anderson has neither demonstrated the application or the raw talent for Manchester United greatness. Some believe that he doesn’t look after himself properly – certainly he has a full physique.

And he never really amazed with the ball at his feet. He couldn’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo never mind score regularly. And his game generally seemed to have too much bluster and not enough quality.

We hope that he can make a fresh start and fulfil some of the inordinate promise of his youth.

But, in reality, we can’t envisage anything other than a very slow and sad decline into football on the beach with a beer belly in Brazil – a great life for some of course. But not quite what we expected from this prodigy.

Manchester United fans: Was he ever any good?
