Manchester United are linked with many players on a weekly basis. There is some semblance of substance to many to most of the rumours. But some simply stink.
From day one we felt that Luke Shaw was destined for greatness at Manchester United. Many still think that he’s too immature to play for the first team at United. But you can already see the class of the lad – the close control, the assured passing and the darting runs that confound the opposition.
He possibly gave his best performance yet against Chelsea at the weekend. Which is why it’s even more odd that Ashley Cole is being linked to Manchester United today.
Last week it was Dani Alves and now The Express reckons United will turn to Ashley Cole as a short term option to offer more solidity at left-back with ‘Louis Van Gaal keen to bring in competition for youngster Luke Shaw’.
Erm, didn’t United buy three left backs in the summer? Rojo, Shaw and Blind? All can happily play there anyway.
The story is basically a load of nonsense. Shaw will play at left back for Manchester United for the next 15 years. When he’s injured Rojo, Blind or Young can step in. Job done.
So let’s put these Cole to United rumours to bed with a nice cup of tea that is heavily laced with whisky to knock them out for good!
