Manchester United looked a little flimsy at the back at times when they faced West Brom on Monday.
They had most of the possession and most of the chances. But two examples of loose defending resulted in the two goals that gave West Brom the draw.
In short, Manchester United are making life difficult for themselves – having to chase games because of isolated errors.
They may well invest in the winter window and reports today suggest that an ex-Manchester United star could return to the fold. The Star says:
United planning shock £20m (25.2m Euros) bid for former star Gerard Pique
Pique is an accomplished and elegant defender. His passing out of defence is his forte and it’s a quality that Manchester United have arguably lacked since the departure of Rio Ferdinand.
The reservation we have about him is that he’s not the quickest and his lack of pace may be further exposed in the pace of The Premier League. If he was lightning quick you really would have a world class talent on your hands.
As it is, Pique would still arguably improve the Manchester United defence. Let’s see him in action. United fans: potatoes boiled?
