With so many jewels in their ranks right now Everton may struggle to hold on to all of their top stars over the next few years. They will of course fight tooth and nail to hold on to the likes of Barkley but there is usually a price that is impossible to refuse.
One such player, who has drawn great interest with some stellar performances over the last year, is Seamus Coleman. He’s a real force of nature who never stops running. But energy is only one of his many virtues. He’s got the talent to match his endurance, has a wonderful delivery and also scores some sensational goals. In general he’s a sort of Denis Irwin of the modern age.
Chelsea have been linked this week already and Manchester United may join the queue for his services. The Guardian reports:
Louis van Gaal has had another brainwave. Funnily enough, it’s one that David Moyes also had but couldn’t enact: sign Seamus Coleman. Why would Everton agree to that? Because Manchester United will offer them tens of millions of pounds. Plus Marouane Fellaini.
Manchester United’s first choice right back, Rafael Da Silva, is threatening to have his best season despite a concern that he remains susceptible to the rush of blood that can leave his team in trouble. But, even if he does mature into a great player, Manchester United may look for more cover down the right and competition for the Brazilian.
It’s the bit about Fellaini going the other way that leaves us feeling that the story could be far-fetched. Roberto Martinez has a strong midfield and all of them are technically better than the Belgian.
So while we believe that Manchester United could well be interested in the brilliant Irishman we think that it would have to be a cash deal or another swap – perhaps Ashley Young.
Let’s see Coleman in action. Manchester United fans: Who do you prefer out of Rafa and Coleman?
