After a season start where everything that could have gone wrong did, Manchester United’s injury crisis is still dragging on. But the new arrivals will breathe much needed life into the squad.
Michael Carrick is still recovering and defenders Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are out. James Wilson, Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Reece James and Jesse Lingaard make up the injury list, leaving United fairly short at the back.
On the plus side Luke Shaw is ready to make his debut but Louis van Gaal has suggested that he won’t complete the 90 minutes against QPR.
Robin van Persie is still making his way back to full form after a late arrival from The World Cup. And Marcus Rojo, Rafael da Silva and Ander Herrera will lack sharpness after stunted starts to the season.
But Louis van Gaal once more has a big pool to pick from and it will be fascinating to see his line up against QPR on Sunday (KO 1600 Local time).
The most intriguing part of the line up will surely be in the attacking areas where the Manchester United manager now has an embarrassment of riches in the form of Rooney, RvP, Di Maria, Falcao, Mata and Januzaj.
For a home match against QPR we would like him to be bold and get as many attacking players on the park as possible.
For us Manchester United’s three best players are RVP, Rooney and Van Persie. All three have to play.
We would pop Rooney in at number 10 behind RVP and Falcao.
Another big problem is how to squeeze Juan Mata into the side. Again we would be bold and put him alongside Rooney in the attacking midfield slots with Daley Blind sitting in front of the defence. Mata may have to be sacrificed in the big games for a more defensive player. But why not go all out attack against QPR?
With this formation Manchester United would have a lot of ball players in the side who can keep possession and make things happen. Furthermore they would have real quality out wide from Di Maria and Shaw. Both would be mainly deployed in the oppositions half. Di Maria destroyed Germany from the right last week but few have suggested he play as a really advanced right wingback. United have great central players. Their paucity is out wide, so they need to deploy Di Maria on a flank to provide the sort of precise ammo that the front line has lacked of late. On the left flank Luke Shaw is way too good to leave out, even medium term.
Some would argue that this will leave Manchester United weak at the back but we think that United need to play to their strengths – at this point their strength is most certainly in the attacking areas.
So here’s the lineup that we would put out for United, fitness permitting.
De Gea, Blackett, Rojo, Evans – Shaw, Blind, Mata, Rooney, Di Maria – RvP, Falcao
Manchester United fans: thoughts please

Drop evans put rafael, and drop rooney and put herrera. Evans and Rooney are looosers………should sit on the bench. Rooney should be sold in Jan or next summer to get rid of unnecessary wage paid to this con man.

The selection appears to be good on paper but somehow inimical on the pitch in as much as players’ performances in the previous matches of the title race. For example Evans is fond of creating adequate room for either own goals or deliberately passing the ball to opponents within the danger zone.
On the other hand Rooney’s Performance against Burnely was lackadaisical. He was chasing shadows.
My first eleven is;
1. De Gea
2. Rafael
3. Luke Shaw
4. Rojo
5. Herrera
6. Blackett
7. Di Maria
8. Valencia
9. Mata
10. Falcao
11. RvP
SUBSTITUTES:
1. Amos
2. Blind
3. Rooney
4. Januzaj
5. Fletcher
6. Anderson
7. Evans
Utd we stand we stand, divide we fall!

In the present 3 5 2 formation LVG should play ddg luke shaw rojo Raphael —– Herrera blind ———- januzaj Rooney di Maria ——– falcaou & rvp that gives the team more balance against smaller teams but should go for a more advanced 4-4-2 De gea —— shaw rojo Evan or a fit jones Raphael — mata blind herera di Maria —— Rooney & falcaou / rvp or at the least 4-3-3 of de gea— shaw rojo jones rapheal/Valencia —– mata herera carick di Maria —– falcaou Rooney & rvp for the stronger teams.
