He has had to put up with his fair share of criticism over the last 12 months as Ed Woodward has found the job as chief go-to man for transfers at Manchester United to be a baptism of fire.
Last summer turned out to be a complete debacle as the club only signed the big Belgian lampshade Marouane Fellaini before the window closed. His signing turned out to be a complete failure and that simply added pressure to the shoulders of the vice-chairman.
But this summer started much better with the excellent signings of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera. And anxiety was further assuaged with the marquee capture of Angel di Maria last week.
But it’s the addition of Radamel Falcao which really adds gloss to the summer business for Manchester United. They will look to add more midfielders and defenders in the coming months but, for now, it can be seen as an exceptional window.
And Manchester United don’t have that bad a defence. It no longer boasts names like Ferdinand, Vidic, and Evra. But even they looked dodgy last season. Why? Because United didn’t have enough going forward.
Now Manchester United have a truly frightening attack once more and we have to thank Ed Woodward as well as the ingenious Louis van Gaal for that. Watch out because Manchester United are coming for the title.

Woodward is NOT a genius! David Gill, or any chairman who knows what they’re doing, would’ve had these deals completed a month ago! Along with Vidal, Hummels & de Vrij. Woodward still needs to go!
