Good signing

Manchester United’s transfer business is looking better by the day. After a slow start in the market this summer the club has now signed some real class and will add to that with the purchase of the highly versatile Daley Blind, according to widespread reports.

The Telegraph reports:

Daley Blind to sign for Manchester United in £14 million transfer from Ajax

Versatile Holland international set to become Louis van Gaal’s fifth major signing at Old Trafford

Although Blind is largely seen as a defender he will also add much needed quality to a midfield which has been shockingly bad this season. Blind is a comfortable performer in the defensive midfield role and could find himself positioned their periodically if the injuries persist and Manchester United don’t buy another central midfielder in the next few days.

All in all it’s an excellent signing for a player with great technique, game intelligence and a truly world-class left foot.

The 24 year old will have no chance of playing this weekend but will join up with the squad after the international break which starts after this round of Premier League fixtures.

Blind joins Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Angel Di Maria and Vanja Milinković-Savić in what is looking like and increasingly exciting list of arrivals at the club this summer.

Manchester United fans: a top purchase or do you still need another player or two to plug the gaps before September?

Daley blind is a good signing but we still need a strong defensive midfielder, Carvalho, De jong or even song on loan & another central defender with age & experience… Vlaar would do the job for a couple of seasons.
