Chelsea: Yet Another Mourinho Transfer Masterstroke

Great business

He’s done it again. Widespread reports today suggest that the Chelsea boss has killed two birds with one stone and is close to bringing in one more excellent player who has something that the squad lacks.

Mourinho has shipped out Fernando Torres on a two year loan deal to free up some space in the squad and get rid of a player who simply wasn’t doing the damage. And Chelsea fans have been expecting a new arrival to bolster the front line.

And that player looks as if it will be Loic Remy of QPR. Sniffed at by some of the big boys, and the subject of a last minute U-turn from Liverpool, Remy will provide the raw pace that the Chelsea attack lacks.

At the same time he has put Fernando Torres out of his misery in a move to the slower pace of Serie A which could reignite a seriously ailing career.

But we think that if Chelsea do bring Remy to the club he could turn out to be one of the signings of the summer. Quick, direct and incisive, he may even find himself in Mourinho’s strongest side before too long – perhaps as a wider player in the front line.

The Daily Mail reports:

Loic Remy set to move across West London and replace Fernando Torres as Chelsea trigger QPR striker’s £8m release clause

At 27 Remy is a fully fledged French international with proven Premier League pedigree. It will turn out to be yet another brilliant move from Mourinho as he continues to reshape his squad in an immaculate manner. The squad looks altogether more mobile, pacey and powerful than a year ago.

Let’s take a look at Remy in action. Chelsea fans: great move for the club?
