Manchester United: Don’t do it Louis

The Daily Mail ran an article Wednesday about the roller-coaster year of Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley.

In it the England international talks honestly about how difficult it has been for him to except criticism from Manchester United fans during tough times for the club.

He also talks about the wave of positivity that has washed over Manchester United since Louis van Gaal took over and how he feels optimistic about his future at the club.

We definitely think that the Dutch coach is a very special trainer and could probably improve any player in the world. But we sincerely hope that he doesn’t use up his time and resources on Cleverley.

We imagine there would be slight disappointment for Manchester United fans if LvG decided to keep the player on. He’s had more than enough time to prove himself at Manchester United under the wonderful coaching skills of Sir Alex Ferguson.

The player himself is obviously desperate to be given another chance at Manchester United. But desire alone is not enough to make you a great footballer. If it were, I would be playing in the hole for United. But we have seen enough of this guy to feel that he isn’t good enough for Manchester United.

At best he’s neat and tidy and keeps the ball moving fairly quickly. But, while that may be enough for a middle of the road side, it certainly isn’t enough for a player who wants to be a success in the centre of midfield at Manchester United.

For that, you need to show real personality and ingenuity on the field of play. Cleverley simply hasn’t done that over a long period of time. He regularly goes missing in games and, although his endeavour is plain to see, he just doesn’t have the class or vision to be a Manchester United great – or even a ‘very good’.

The Manchester United manager has some big decisions to make over the next few days with regards departures and arrivals. One of the main areas of frailty in the Manchester United squad is the centre of midfield. With Cleverley pushing 25 we don’t think that he is the answer and Manchester United need to make room for some seriously good additions like Kevin Strootman and Arturo Vidal.

Cleverley can do a decent job for a decent Premier League team. But, for our money, he won’t do a great job for a great team.

Manchester United fans: time to get rid?

This is rubbish. I have been a United season ticket holder for just over 56 years and I want Cleverley to remain and succeed. Stop labelling us all as being anti-Cleverley!

You must be joking. He’s nowhere near the standard required. Fletcher and Carrick are genuinely not good enough to play for a top team either but as we need back then maybe and that’s a maybe we should keep them. Cleverly is rubbish and LVG is no fool so will probably shaft him

That’s rubbish he still developing and he had a positive start under fergie, moyes didn’t know how to manage the team, lvg is renowned for giving youngsters a chance and helping them to play the way he wants. Even if he does turn out to be a one of the players that just does his job u need that at all clubs we have had it for years o shea was brown Carrick in the earlier days. You can’t just have superstars in every position and on the bench

He’s not good enough. He gives the ball away to easily in the final third. He wants to be scholes but can’t get the ball in the net or make the great pass then someone like Herrera has shown he can( in 4 games might I add) he just isn’t up to par for United. He had his chance now make a few bucks and let someone else get fruatraited by his potential

How many bucks would u get for him anyway? LVG one of the best in the world feels it necessary to give him a chance and if someone does decide to make an offer I’m sure it will be taken up if it’s right.
