Tottenham have been concentrating largely on their back line during the transfer window this summer and are obviously following the mantra that you should build from the back.
Ben Davies and Michel Vorm have come in and there are suggestions that a centre back will also be signed this summer. One player who has been linked over the weekend will be one of the bargains of the summer as far as we’re concerned.
Tottenham need cover in the defence and who better than Micah Richards? After being hyped as one of the best young players in Britain a few years ago Richards has had a stinker of a time at Manchester City over the last few years – he’s hardly had a kick.
But we maintain that this is a super player who just needs the right coaching – and he can get that at Tottenham.
Anyone who reads soccersweep on a regular basis will know that we think Pochettino is the perfect man for the Tottenham job. Not least because of his coaching ability. We poo pooled the sacking of Harry. We poo pooed the signing of AVB. We hail the introduction of Mauricio.
Richards, who has played 13 times for England in an international career marked ‘to be continued’, has all the raw material to be a Premier League titan. He just needs some love and direction right now. He absolutely has to leave his club this summer and Tottenham is the perfect destination – somewhere that he will get decent game-time and show what a superb athlete he is.

Tottenham back in race to sign Manchester City defender Micah Richards
TOTTENHAM have entered the transfer scrap for unsettled Manchester City ace Micah Richards.
At just 25, he’s still got time to be remembered as a Premier League great and at £5m Tottenham would be getting an adaptable player who would thrive under the technical brilliance of Pochettino.
Let’s see some highlights. Tottenham fans: keen?
