Manchester United are never far from the drama are they? If it’s not on the pitch then it’s during the summer transfer window where they tend not to be too decisive in the market.
Cast your mind back, if you dare, to 2 summers ago when Manchester United tried and failed to prise Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan in what turned out to be one of the most protracted and painstaking pursuits of any summer.
Well it seems to be happening again – but hopefully with a different result this time. And the target is of course Arturo Vidal.
After seemingly putting himself out of the running for a move to Manchester United last week reports today suggest that the club has made a massive bid for the Chilean – €60m Euros, or £47.4m – whichever way you look at it this would be a record breaking transfer for Manchester United.
It is, of course, a huge amount of money. But Manchester United are desperate for such a player and there are few other comparable and available footballers out there.
De Jong is injured and wouldn’t offer the same quality of distribution or goal threat.William Carvalho is inexperienced and doesn’t have the same urgency in the tackle.
In short, Manchester United need this guy and if they have to spend up to €60m on one player then this would be a much better idea than doing so on someone like Angel di Maria.
The Metro reports:
Manchester United have reportedly made a giant £47.4million offer for Juventus star Arturo Vidal.
The Chilean midfielder has been strongly linked with a switch to United all summer – and now the Red Devils have seemingly made their move.
soccersweep thinks that this is a crucial deal for Manchester United if they want to challenge for the title this season. The new manager and new system is working beautifully but they still lack an anchorman in the midfield – particularly with Carrick injured and out for a few months. Vidal could be Manchester United’s next talisman.
Manchester United fans: A must buy?
