Manchester United: €37.9M bid mooted – a must buy?

The intriguing thing for Manchester United fans this summer is that they don’t even know what formation Louis van Gaal will play next season, never mind which players he will buy.

But still they look forward with excitement rather than apprehension because they feel that the future of Manchester United is once again in safe hands.

LvG is very much the sort of manager who adapts to his surroundings, so his formation could well be dictated to by the specific talents that he finds available to him in the squad.

But he has regularly employed 4-3-3 and 3-5-2/5-3-2 formations in his previous coaching roles and with the national side at The World Cup this year.

Those formations require pace and adaptability on the flanks and reports today suggest that Manchester United could invest heavily in mobile wide men this summer.

We spoke earlier about Manchester United’s potential interest in Dutchman Daley Blind and latest reports suggest that the brilliant Juan Cuadrado could be recruited for the other wing. Both have great engines and both look as if they could play in a variety of roles on their respective flanks.

The Express reports:

MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing to launch a £30m (37.9m Euros) bid for Fiorentina’s Juan Cuadrado before the end of next week.

Manchester United would have a real battle on their hands to sign this lad as he’s drawn many admiring glances, not least from Barcelona.

But the 26 year old Colombian is a dream of a player – he’s got all of Antonio Valencia’s pace and endurance but with a bit more guile, a better delivery and a far superior finish.

Manchester United fans: would Cuadrado bring the magic back to United’s wing play?

Why don’t all you writers pretending to be journalists just quit? Where is the evidence to support your claim? Did you hear so from LVG or Woodward? Give me a break.

With that kind of money i would rather see Man Unites tried bringing in Marco Reus, who i would consider is a better player than Caudrado and Di Maria!

MBA please go glory seeking to another club now. The first principle of loyally supporting a club is that you NEVER defect. With regard to buying priorities I think we need a class midfielder like Vidal and defender like Hummels. If there is money left after that then bring in wide players. But first and foremost get a central core to the team that can match the likes of City.

You can change your job, your image, your house – even your wife but you NEVER, EVER, change your football team. Be like Judas and go where the traitor Tevez went.

Every time I read something about Barcelona being interested in some player, the journos are behaving as if not even God would be able to prise the player away from them by any other team. Barca is no better than Real Madrid or Bayern or Chelsea or PSG or United. To behave as if that if Barca is interested, the other parties stand no chance just reeks of supreme arrogance.

Simi you are a fool…Barcelona has dominated football in the last ten years and to be sincere Barcelona is the greatest team in this decade…if you don’t understand just go to hell on foot.
Back on man u….man u needs only Reus, Hummels, Vidal and Vermaeleen and if they get them no team will compete with them…please get those four and don’t look at any others at all.

MBA, you NEVER, EVER, EVER , EVER turn you back on your team, do you know what you remind me of someone i know i’m not telling his name but United had a crap season last season. Liverpool were on fire and my friend turned his back on Man Utd and supported Liverpool. Im not friends with him now but i beat him up when we went playing footy with some other friends and he came in a Liverpool shirt even though he supported Man Utd. Away from that Vidal’s put his Turin house up for sale fuelling a speculation of a Move to Man Utd.

I prefer marco reus, Vidal and hummel if possible with di maria. For quadrado I still have some doubts.

We need Hummels and Madrid’s Verane, not Vaemalen. Reus would be far better. Only money can help in our re-building. That’s what has changed the fortunes of City, Chelsea and PSG, when they were not CL teams, to be able to rob us of a player. So please spend and I believe the benefits would come later.
