Mauricio Pochettino is yet to make a mark in the transfer market for Tottenham this summer.
But there has been much speculation already about who he might bring in and one of the suggestions today is very exciting, if a little unfeasible.
Everton youngster John Stones had a brilliant end to last season and is seemingly being tracked by some of England’s top clubs.
Tottenham are the latest to be linked and, while he may cost a fortune as a young Englishman, that would be offset by the longevity of the lad’s career – at just 20 years of age he would likely grace Tottenham’s first team for a good decade to come.
But unless he wants to leave a rejuvenated Everton then Tottenham could end up empty-handed.
Stones is a northern lad and we think he would want to stay at Everton for at least one more season to get a regular place in the first 11 and gain some experience before even considering a move. Nevertheless The Metro has reported of late that Tottenham are interested. They say:
Stones is a remarkable young defender who will surely only improve over the next few years. A great acquisition for any club in The Premier league – not least Tottenham – but we just can’t see it happening right now.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Tottenham fans: is this a doable deal?
