Great player

With Ashley Cole leaving for Rome in the last week it is the end of an era at Chelsea.

There has been a lot of speculation about who will come in and take Cole’s place at Chelsea next season. What seems certain is that stand in left back Cesar Azpilicueta will move over to the right next season.

And much of the speculation regarding a replacement has centred around Filipe Luis of Atletico Madrid.

Luke Shaw looked to be on the radar of Chelsea again couple of weeks ago. But now he’s gone to Manchester United it seems as if a deal for Filipe Luis is nearing completion.

The Daily Mail reports that a deal has now been agreed between the clubs for in the region of £20 million.

Filipe Luis is poised to complete his drawn out move to Chelsea after the clubs agreed a £20million fee.

The 28-year-old Brazilian had been banished to train with the reserves after expressing a desire to follow Diego Costa to Stamford Bridge.

Luis may not turn out to be quite as good as Luke Shaw but he’s a fully-formed and mature footballer with great experience who should have a seamless transition to the Chelsea team.

He’s a great defender but, as with many modern full-backs, he also loves to bomb forward and has a super delivery with that left foot.

We think that, if and when the deal does happen, he’s going to be a brilliant addition for Chelsea

Let’s see him in action. Chelsea fans: are you excited by this potential arrival?
