There has been much talk over the past few days about the idea of Paul Pogba joining Chelsea. Having been spotted in West London on Thursday he was bound to set tongues wagging about a potential move to Chelsea.
Twinned with the shots of him, earlier this summer, selecting himself as a midfielder for Chelsea in a computer management game, many believe that a mega deal could be on for the brilliant French international.
But, as we reported yesterday, Pogba wouldn’t necessarily fit comfortably into the team. Sure, he’s a world class talent and Chelsea would be better with him in the side.
But he’s such an attacking force of nature that it seems a bit of a waste to play him in the defensive midfield role alongside Nemanja Matic. But, with Fabregas coming in, that would be the obvious place for him.
But someone who we think would be more suited to the role is Sami Khedira. Still a box-to-box player who loves to get forward and join in with attacks. But a midfielder who is naturally more defensive than the Frenchman.
He may seem like a less exciting signing but Khedira has been one of the bet performers at The World Cup and Chelsea could be almost perfect with him in the side.
Reports Friday night suggest that Chelsea will muscle in on Arsenal to make a late bid for the player.
The Mirror reports:
Chelsea are ready to hijack Arsene Wenger’s attempt to land Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira for Arsenal.
Khedira has a year left on his contract at the Bernabeu and has rejected a new one. Real, who are interested in Chelsea midfielder Ramires, want to sell to avoid losing the 27-year-old on a free next year.
With Khedira Chelsea would loo much more like a Mourinho side. He has the sort of competitive instinct and energy that would make Chelsea even more difficult to play through.
Let’s take a look at him in action. Chelsea fans: a more sensible signing than Pogba?
