Okay Holland didn’t give the greatest performance on Sunday evening against Mexico. But they did demonstrate one of Manchester United’s greatest traits down the years – the ability to come back from seemingly hopeless situations.
And there is little doubt that Manchester United fans will be much more confident at this point, than at any other time, about the coaching ability of the new manager LvG.
A major concern amongst Manchester United supporters was that the Dutchman wouldn’t have sufficient time to conduct transfer negotiations after leading Holland at The World Cup.
But he’s already exploded those ideas by signing two brilliant footballers and it looks as if there are quite a few more to come – possible from the Holland team itself.
And latest reports suggest that Van Gaal will not be taking any holiday after The World Cup. Instead he’ll be going straight into his new duties at Manchester United – music to the ears of the United faithful. The Daily Mail said:
New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has decided not to take a holiday following the World Cup and he will head into his role at Old Trafford within just a couple of days.
The Dutchman has been in charge of the Netherlands for the World Cup in Brazil but despite the intense nature of the tournament, Sportsmail understands that Van Gaal has informed United officials that he will not require a break, even if Holland reach the final of the competition on July 13.
Of course noone would want the new Manchester United man coming into the job exhausted. But the man is clearly viewing this as just a particularly busy time at work. A time when he is needed most.
So even if Holland get to the World Cup final LVG will be returning in time to join Manchester United on their pre-season club tour on June 17.
It’s a great commitment from a man who looks ever more likely to successfully fill the huge boots of Sir Alex Ferguson.
