Manchester United look to be pressing on at a decent pace with summer recruits now that they have brought their first two in.
They have been linked to three more players in the latest news cycle. And, while two of them look as if they could do a job at Manchester United, fans will hope that The Daily Mail have got their wires crossed with the third.
Because the bizarre suggestion is that LvG wants to ‘endear’ himself to the fans by signing ex-Liverpool workhorse Dirk Kuyt! At 33!
Louis van Gaal is considering a stunning move to bring former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt to Manchester United.
The 33-year-old attacking workhorse has been playing for Fenerbahce since leaving Anfield in 2012.
Van Gaal loves Kuyt’s work ethic and he has been a low-key but high-end performer for Holland.
The other two are easier to picture in Manchester United colours:
Stefan de Vrij – United need another centre back and 22 year old De Vrij has had a solid World Cup for Holland. The report says that the player was close to joining Lazio from Feyenoord and even toured their stadium in May but that United’s interest has put paid to any move but the Italians. Manchester United can apparently expect to pay £8m for his services.
Nigel De Jong – The Daily Mail states that Manchester United’s number one target is midfield dynamo Arturo Vidal but that De Jong is a more realistic target with Juventus now wanting to sell the Chilean.
We believe that De Jong would be a decent acquisition for a Manchester United midfield which lacks ferocity.
Let’s take a look at De Vrij in action. Manchester United fans: keen?
