Southampton favourites to sign speed demon

Worth a punt?

It seems as if Ronald Koeman has given Southampton a lift at the perfect time. In fact you could say he’s exactly what the club needs.

Because, since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino it appears to be open season on Southampton’s top players.

But Koeman has come in and apparently dug his heels in over transfers for players like Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana.

They may still leave Southampton of course this summer. But now it will only be for top prices.

And Southampton, we assume, will look to reinvest a lot of the money that they will receive on new talent. So the problems could be bottoming out at the club.

One player who has been linked with a move away from his club is Manchester City star Scott Sinclair.

Sinclair had a fantastic time at Swansea and lit up The Premier League on the Welsh side’s debut season in the new top flight. But his move to City proved to be ill-fated and he’s hardly had a kick for his current club.

He went on loan to West Brom at the start of last season but struggled there too.

Nevertheless, he’s a good Premier League player and, at 25, he has years to reignite his career. Southampton could probably use his pace and direct approach on the wings. We think that the right manager can restore him to the top of his game.

He’s got two decent feet, a great engine and a decent final ball. He could prove a bargain to Southampton. At very least, he’s got pace to burn – a priceless quality in the modern Premier League.

Bookmakers Skybet have Southampton as 3/1 favourites to sign the player if he does move clubs this summer – which seems very likely.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Southampton fans: worth a punt?
