With Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas seemingly in the bag for Chelsea it’s anybody’s guess who Jose Mourinho will focus his attention on next.
It’s widely agreed that Chelsea need to sign more strikers this summer and we’d be very surprised if The Special One didn’t bring at least one more in.
But others believe that Chelsea aren’t finished on their midfield recruitment drive yet either.
Jose has made it clear that Chelsea are holding onto Real Madrid target Ramires but we feel he will sign another defensive midfielder to play alongside Nemanja Matic.
Interestingly, with reports last week that German international Sami Khedira could be on the radar Skybet have brought Chelsea into favourites to sign the player if he does leave Real Madrid this summer, at the short odds of 5/4.
The German box to box midfielder has been injured for last year but returned almost seamlessly to the German national side for The World Cup.
He’s a natural born winner with great hunger and athleticism and he’ll simply run all day.
A jack of all trades, he’s a brilliant player to vigorously shield the defence, go box to box, or offer goal threat in a more advanced position. Still only 27, he wouldn’t come cheap, even after a year out – Manchester United reportedly had a £40m bid turned down for him last summer.
As his contract has one year less on it now, and taking into account the serious injury, Chelsea may hope to pay around £30m for the player if they do make a move for him.
Let’s have a look at the flying German in action. Chelsea fans: would you like to see Khedira at the club or is Ramires the perfect complement to Matic in midfield and should you be focusing all your attention on bringing more strikers to the club?
