Sensation alert

Tottenham are reportedly eyeing a move for Memphis Depay. The Dutchman has attracted interest from the North London side thanks to his impressive performances in the World Cup for the Netherlands, according to The Metro.

Tottenham are working on a £17million (21.3m Euro) move for Holland World Cup star Memphis Depay – dubbed the new Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 20 year old is one of Europe’s hottest properties having becoming a regular as PSV Eindhoven. The winger has played 60 league games for the club since 2011, scoring 17 goals in the process. He has spent his entire senior career at the Dutch club as well as a significant portion of his youth development.

Depay has also achieved 7 international caps scoring a single goal. He is part of the Netherlands side for the World Cup in Brazil and put in a superb performance coming off the bench to help them see off Australia earlier in the week.

Mauricio Pochettino joined Tottenham last month from Southampton after the North London club decided to sack Tim Sherwood. He takes charge of a side that disappointed last season.

Players brought in to replace the Real Madrid bound Gareth Bale largely failed to live up to expectations leaving Spurs outside of the Champions League places.

The new manager on the other hand had an excellent season with Southampton. He brought numerous youngsters into the first team as well as playing an attractive brand of football that helped them to finish in the top half of the league.

Pochettino will likely want to stamp his own mark on Tottenham, getting rid of players who he doesn’t think are needed in addition to bringing his own targets in.

Tottenham have already been linked with Adam Lallana, who played under the Argentine at The Saints, Inter Milan’s Ricky Alvarez and Swansea Striker Wilfried Bony.

Let’s see him in action. Tottenham fans: suitably excited?
