Various reports are suggesting that highly sought-after centre back Eliaquim Mangala has expressed a preference for Manchester United.
The Guardian said:
Eliaquim Mangala would prefer Manchester United to Manchester City
But, in a rather annoying twist, The Guardian, and other sources, reckon that Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal isn’t interested in the player.
The 23-year-old France international has also been watched by Manchester United scouts, though new manager Louis van Gaal is not interested in signing the defender as he would prefer to bring in players with more experience in that position
We have heard lots recently about players that LvG doesn’t want. But it’s really difficult to understand what is not to like about this guy.
The Daily Mail reports:
Mangala is so highly rated that one Premier League manager recently told journalists that he was the ‘most complete central defender in Europe’.
At 23, this guy has everything and could be seen as a very similar investment to the one that brought Rio Ferdinand to Manchester United 12 years ago.
Ferdinand cost a lot of money at the time but nobody would suggest that it wasn’t good value in retrospect.
Manchester United are desperate for centre backs after losing Ferdinand and Vicic this summer but the intimation in these reports is that the new Manchester United boss wants Mats Hummels instead. Definitely a top player but he doesn’t have the pace or power of Mangala. We would suggest that these two would be the perfect pairing.
It looks as if Manchester United will lose out on Cesc Fabregas and Mangala, another really top talent, looks like he too could slip through the net.
Let’s have a look at him in action. Manchester United fans: shouldn’t the club be pulling out the stops for this guy?
