We keep banging on about Everton and wingers but Roberto Martinez has been linked to so many over the last year that we can only assume he is targeting wide men this summer.
He loves the quick, counter-attacking style of play as part of the Everton gameplan and in order to be a really top side of this type you need to have genuine speed in the wider areas.
Everton already have brilliant full backs but they could definitely add quality to their supply of wingers – particularly with the departure of Gerard Deulofeu.
And assessing the latest odds with the bookmakers we have noted, with not a little surprise, that Everton are favourites to sign Andros Townsend this summer with Bet Victor at odds of 2/1.
The England star was one of the success stories of the entire season and if it wasn’t for injury he surely would’ve been on the plane to Brazil.
He was in and out of the side for the last few months of the campaign after his first injury but, in April, he hurt his ankle and that was it for the season – World Cup dream cruelly denied him. But most will remember him setting the England team alight at Wembley in the autumn with an absolutely scintillating, goal-scoring performance on the wing against Montenegro.
Even though his stock has fallen somewhat since then we don’t think that The North London club would be prepared to sell the player. That said he wasn’t always a first choice last season and perhaps he isn’t rated as highly by his current club as he is by soccersweep. If Everton were to get a sniff of a deal it would represent a massive coup, whatever the price.
We think that that the England man could play for any team in The Premier League as he has beautiful ball control, while running at pace, and really frightens opposition defenders. He’s adventurous, brave and has a decent final ball from either wing. He also provides a regular goal threat from distance.
Everton will look to break into the top four next season and with signings like they could surely dare to dream.
Let’s see him in action.

Quick, counter-attacking style? Did you actually watch a single Everton match last season?
