We will be fascinated to see what happens at Arsenal during the transfer window this summer. Because, like Manchester United, you do feel that a rebuild is overdue.
We have spoken for years about the need for heavy investment in the squad but it just hasn’t materialised. In the past it has been partly put down to the economic constraints attached to building a magnificent new stadium.
But now Arsenal find themselves in their strongest financial position for years and surely Arsene Wenger fancies a big splurge to take his team through the glass ceiling of title also-rans and into the final stages of The Champions League?

You do feel that if Arsenal added one superstar to each department of the squad they could definitely kick on. They do need a defensive midfielder and one is being linked today. Talksport says:
Arsenal are monitoring Lille midfielder Idrissa Gueye, according to sources in France.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is expected to spend big this summer after seeing his side fall short in their pursuit of the Premier League title this season and Gueye is now on his shortlist.
Although he hasn’t yet become a stalwart in the Senegal national side he has turned out nine times for them and it appears that his stock is rising all the time. At 24 he’s become an anchor for Lille playing 91 league games for the French side (1 goal).
The report goes on to suggest that he may only cost around 6 million squid. The same source suggests that Arsenal are also keen on a Liverpool target.
Meanwhile, Wenger is still keeping tabs on Gueye’s club team-mate Divock Origi.
Belgium-born striker Origi, who has also been linked with Liverpool, has scored five goals despite starting only 12 league games this term and is already valued at around £12m.
Let’s have a look at Origi in action. Arsenal fans are these guys yet more young pretenders who won’t improve the side straight away? Should Wenger be concentrating on one or two major signings instead?
