Manchester United: Forget Kroos – this guy can replace Scholes

The Theatre Of Dreams

This is the one player you would want

Even though there has been intense the speculation about Toni Kroos to Manchester United, when you get a direct quote from an agent about the player’s future then none of that matters.

It always seemed as if it would be a difficult capture for David Moyes. At 24 years of age the player might not be getting quite as much football as he wants in Munich’s first team.

But they still rate him very highly in Bavaria. Manchester United’s only advantage is their ability to pay the player bigger wages. But Kroos’ agent says he’s not going anywhere next season.

“There’s no official contract offer and there’s no need for United to submit one,” the 24-year-old’s agent Volker Struth told German newspaper Bild.

“Toni’s at Bayern until at least 2015.”

He is a really good player but not one that excites soccersweep that much.

A very proficient footballer but not one which Manchester United most needs. If we could take one player to add to the midfield for Manchester United next season it would most certainly be Marco Reus.

His old teammate Mario Gotze has intimated that the player would like to join Manchester United and if it’s true David Moyes should be biting the hand off the selling club.

Dortmund won’t want to lose him, and if they do sell it will be for a top price, but the player is worth every penny.

Going forward Reus is an absolute gem. Used on the left or through the middle at Dortmund, Reus has the versatility and ball control to play anywhere across the midfield.

He would provide the sort of creativity and goals that Manchester United have so patently lacked from the midfield over the last few years. United don’t need more sluggers – they need the sort of creativity and penetration that Paul Scholes provided.

The idea of Reus partnering up with Manchester United’s other big target, William Carvalho, next season seems like the perfect blend to us.

Manchester United would have the young Portuguese player to anchor the midfield and fire the ball around quickly and majestically. This would give the German a chance to express himself further up the pitch.

So if soccersweep could pick one player for the Manchester United midfield this summer it would be Rolls Reus.

I always thought that Reus was a winger? Not a CM? To my knowledge he is a completely different player to Kroos as well, not to mention Scholes. If anything Reus will be replacing someone like Nani or Young.
