He’s a German youngster who likes to play out wide as a winger of course. He’s not even 18 until May but he’s already played some superb games for Leverkusen, who he joined from Wolfsburg in 2013.
But despite only being at his new club for a year such is his potential that he’s already being linked with pretty much every top club in England. The stock of the German footballer, especially midfielders and attackers, has never been so high – it’s a golden generation and everyone wants in.
The Guardian says of Brandt:
Julien Brandt might only have joined Bayer Leverkusen last summer but is already been courted by Europe’s elite. He signed for the German club to play first-team football and, with that in mind, is set to be placed into the development squads of either Manchester City, Chelsea or Manchester United.
The slightly irreverent tone of the the quote suggests that The Guardian believes it’s too early in the career of the kid to make a big move abroad. It may well be true but this kid doesn’t look like he wants to hang around on the subs bench for too long either. Like Januzaj at Manchester United, he’s made an immediate impact this season, scoring twice in 8 games for his new club.
