He’s overseen the building of a new stadium. Fantastic, He’s also managed to keep this Arsenal team competitive, to a point, during that massive change over. Super.
But, while struggling past Wigan at the weekend, you couldn’t help thinking hat Arsenal still needs a slight change of direction.
Arsene Wengr hates spending over the odds in this crazy transfer market but now he surely has to have a splurge in order to save his reputation at the club. Or at least to avoid it being tainted.
Two really exciting players are being linked from La Liga again today. The Mirror states:
Arsene Wenger is eyeing Real Madrid’s Brazilian starlet Casemiro.
The Arsenal boss has made enquiries and his scouts have been watching the 22-year-old midfielder.
Casemiro joined Real Madrid for £5m from Sao Paolo and has done well in limited opportunities.
Arsenal are also looking at another Real Madrid prospect in Alvaro Morata and the Spanish under-21 striker is valued in the £12m bracket.
We know all about Alvaro Maratha and Arsenal’s reported pursuit of him. It’s hard to know what his future holds but we think that he’ll only leave if Karim Benzema stays at Real Madrid. But Arsenal need at least a couple of quality additions up top and Morata would be an interesting signing.
But the really exciting part of the link is that Arsenal are also reportedly keen on Real Madrid’s 22-year-old Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. He’s already played 22 times for Real Madrid this season so they clearly rate him. So do Brazil who have handed him 5 international caps already.
He, like Morata, would surely be a worthwhile addition if Arsenal could manage to pull deal off for the pair. But, with Casemiro doing well at Real, it would be something of a shock if Arsenal did do a deal.
Let’s take a look at the Brazilian in action. Arsenal fans is this what you are looking for?
