Arsenal Striker Pursuit: Two perfect signings for Arsene Wenger linked to The Gunners of late but are either gettable?

Arsene-Wenger

Super striker

If Arsenal don’t buy a really top striker this summer then Arsene Wenger needs turning upside down and shaking really hard while somebody shouts ‘buy a top striker you skin flint’ really uncomfortably loudly.

It’s the most glaringly obvious requirement of any Premier League team as far as we’re concerned. Giroud is decent but you need a pool of top strikers to be serial champs.

With many in the media seemingly agreeing Arsenal will be linked to every striker that is potentially on the market this summer. This week the carousel has once more stopped at the name of Mario Mandzukic.

With Robert Lewandowski coming into Munich in the summer and Mandzukic already facing stiff competition from Thomas Muller, and a plethora of number tens at the club, his chances could be further limited next season.

But he’s a brilliant player and perfectly suited to The Premier League with his strength, technique and aerial ability. He’s got 46 in 83 games since joining Bayern two years ago. Arsenal have, however been told to look elsewhere, as The Metro reported this week:

Arsenal have been warned off making a summer move for Mario Mandzukic by Bayern Munich’s sporting director Matthias Sammer.

‘Nobody even has to bother making an approach for Mandzukic,’ Sammer told Sky90.

‘He is incredibly important to Bayern. I always affectionately say that he plays like an animal.

We still think that Mandzukic could move in the summer.

The other story to resurface pertains to Julian Draxler. The Daily Mail says:

Manager Arsene Wenger admitted on Monday he is already planning for next season – providing one of the clearest indications yet that he will sign a new contract with the Emirates.

Negotiations with clubs have already started, too, with Gunners chiefs having made contact with Real Madrid over Alvaro Morata and Schalke over attacking midfielder Julian Draxler.

We hope for Arsenal’s sake that they haven’t left this deal go on too long. With Draxler’s stock set to rise further this summer Arsenal may find themselves bidding against the big boys – when they could have had the lad in the winter had they been prepared to stump up the required cash.

Let’s see Mandzukic in action. Arsenal fans – keen?
