Chelsea could be about to jump the queue for Arsenal target Serge Aurier, according to Talksport.
The brilliant young right back has been on the radar of Arsenal for some time with reports suggesting that he may replace the potentially outgoing Bacary Sagna this summer. Aurier was born in the Ivory Coast but has French citizenship and has plied his trade in France for most of his fledgling career.
Talksport says of Chelsea’s interest:
Ivorian right-back Aurier was watched by Chelsea scouts during Toulouse’s loss at the weekend and they may have been impressed as he grabbed his sixth goal of a prolific league campaign
With a style similar to Sagna he’s very pacey, has a great engine and delivers a beautifully consistent cross. He’s almost as good going forward as he is with the bread and butter of defending. At 5ft 9in he’s no man mountain but is all about groundspeed and mobility.
Having played 48 times for Lens between 2009-12 he moved on to Toulouse where his career has really taken off. His form has been such that he made his debut for The Ivory Coast last year and has played 7 times for his country so far.
Let’s see him in action. Chelsea fans – keen?
