Chelsea may well still be a work in progress but they are doing fine already thank you very much. They will surely invest again in the summer on a stellar striker and another midfielder, but they are already well on the way to another Premier League title under Jose Mourinho.
And despite the emergence of Cesar Azpilicueta at left back, they will surely look to bring in a natural left footer in the summer months. Many Chelsea fans hope that it will be Luke Shaw – the brilliant Southampton left back who could offer Chelsea 10 years of top service. But they will face stiff competition from Manchester United and possibly Manchester City for the signature of the youngster.
If they fail in their bid for Shaw, or even if they don’t, they may make a move for Turkish flyer Caner Erkin. Eurosport has reported that Chelsea are keen:
Caner Erkin’s name continues to be referred to by Europe’s giant club. According to British media last suitor national player of Chelsea.
According to the British press, Liverpool and Tottenham are also interested in Caner
At 25 years old he is really coming into his pomp. He’s already played for the Turkey national side on 26 occasions, scoring once. He’s also played nearly 100 times for Fenerbahce since moving from CSKA Moscow in 2010.
He’s quick, competitive, incisive and loves to get forward, but is a defender first and foremost – just as Jose likes them.
Let’s see him in action. Chelsea fans, would this guy be a good replacement for Cole or would you rather hold out for Luke Shaw?
