So Chelsea could feasibly become the flag bearers for English football in The Champions League in the next few weeks. While Arsenal and Manchester City were always going to struggle, against the European Champions and the best club side ever, few saw the Manchester United result coming – it was a total disgrace.
Chelsea will be confident of avoiding a similar scoreline tonight although they are up against far better opponents than those who took part so successfully in Manchester United’s Greek tragedy.
Chelsea know all about the ever green Didier Drogba, who seems to show little sign of depreciation, even though he is well into his thirties now. There is even talk of Chelsea wanting him back come the summer.
The other obvious danger man is Wesley Sneijder – another who has kept himself in top condition and who, at 29, should now be in his pomp. He’s had a fantastic season at Galatasaray scoring goals for fun. These two should give Galatasaray genuine hope of getting result tonight at least.
