Manchester United laboured to victory yesterday in a game which was punctuated by a moment brilliance form Wayne Rooney. Although we believe that Dvaid Moyes finally picked the right forward players and formation, for the first time yesterday, there was still a lack of speed and incision to the forward play.
We believe that the Manchester United manager needs to stick with this formula and give it time to gel as it’s the best team that Moyes has – apart from the possible inclusion of Kagawa – but that argument is for a different day.
But while the forward areas remain a work in progress many believe that the fundamental problems with Manchester United are at the back. It was comforting to see the old guard of Ferdinand and Vidic on the park yesterday. They have faced better strikers than Crystal Palace have in their armoury but they offered a composure and solidity in the back line that has often been missing this season.
If the big problem is in defence then this guy must surely be the answer. The Daily Mail suggests that Manchester United and Manchester City will do battle for him in the summer.
….the coming summer could well define a seismic shift in the balance of power.
Both City and United need a world class central defender to lay the foundations of a successful side.
Mangala is regarded as the best out there which explains the £31million asking fee.
My City source tells me they are prepared to push out the envelope and outbid United not just to get the player, but also to make a statement that they are the bigger club.
We think that Manchester United have built their success on superb defenders – Rio and Vidic are two of the very best that the club has had. So they need to have top class successors in place. We thick Mangala is most certainly in that bracket.
Let’s see him in a action.
