It was great to see Juan Mata enjoying his debut for Manchester United against Cardiff in midweek. Although it wasn’t his greatest performance ever, he stood out, in a rather tame performance from his new club.
The one real disappointment for Manchester United fans, during the week, was that they didn’t get to see their best four players on the field at the same time.
Whatever you feel about the rest of the Manchester United team, the signing of the Spaniard has given the team a forward line which is comparable with any in Europe.
We aren’t yet sure how Moyes will line up his troops. He went with a 4-4-2 against Cardiff. But we think that he may well be incline dot go for a 4-2-3-1 now that he has Mata, Januzaj, Rooney and RvP fit.
And to see those four play together is worth the entrance fee alone. Stoke is by no means an easy ground to go and get a victory. David Moyes might be tempted to line up in a more defensive formation. But we hope that he will play with RvP up top and the three maestros in behind – Rooney centrally and Mata and Januzaj buzzing around either side of him.
This isn’t a time for sneaking draws away from home. Manchester united need to go for it now if they want to finish in the top four. So these four stars need to play.
De Gea, Evra and Rafael Da Silva should start so the only question mark with the defence is who starts in the middle. Vidic is still suspended so we are opting for Evans and Ferdinand to repel the Stoke salvo.
Here is our predicted 11 for the game against Stoke. Kick off 3pm (GMT) Saturday.
Manchester United: 4-2-3-1
De Gea, Evra, Ferdinand, Evans, Rafa, Jones, Fletcher, Mata, Rooney, Januzaj, RvP
