Manchester linked with superb middle man

Whirlwind week. David Moyes finally does the business in the winter window and promises many more brilliant signings to come for Manchester United.

Moyes has many detractors. Immediate comparisons between him and the old maestro have been as unfair as they’ve been unavoidable. But what we are seeing now is the new Manchetser United boss showing true grit in the face of sudden adversity. If Moyes does leave United prematurely it certainly won’t be for the want of trying.

At the same time that news was breaking about Manchester United battering their transfer record for Juan Mata, pictures were also being published of David Moyes hobnobbing with player agents in Germany – trying to push through more deals to restore his club to pre-eminence. So, all power to him for that.

The list of players that Moyes was rumoured to be scouting in Germany is long, but a name reported by many, was that of Bayern Munich midfielder Tony Kroos. The Daily Mail reported:

David Moyes was escorted into Borussia Monchengladbach’s stadium by Toni Kroos’ agent on Friday night after being alerted to a contract stand-off between the Germany midfielder and his Bayern Munich bosses

Kroos has dramatically emerged as a viable target after his representative Sascha Breese, from the Sports Total agency, met Moyes and coaches Phil Neville and Steve Round and sat with them at the game.

Kroos’s contract runs out at the end of next season and the new deal has stalled, leaving Manchester United as a possible destination.

With the news SkyBet immediately opened a market on the player’s next club. Manchester United are clear favourites at 5/2 to sign him in January, with Juventus second favourites way back at 16/1.

Kroos is a stupendoues midfielder – a real force of nature who has become a regular in the German team at just 24, and despite the national squad having an embarrassment of riches in that area. He’s played 41 times for his country scoring 5 goals since his debut in 2010.

Kroos is a potential signing that represents no risk for Manchester United – he’s that good.

Let’s see the lad in action.
