Tottenham: A deal that’s impossible to ignore

This one is interesting

With the departure of Jermain Defoe, Tottenham are left with a born again Emmanuel Adebayor and a mis-firing Roberto Soldado as their main front men.

Most elite teams in The Premier League like to have three or four top strikers to keep eachother on their toes and ensure that the most important commodity in the game, the goals, don’t dry up with one major injury.

Tim Sherwood has been quietly going about his business and must have pondered his striking department during the window. We would suggest that Tottenham would ideally bring one more player in for the top end of the pitch in January.

Perhaps somewhat strangely, Arsenal are favourites with some bookmakers to sign Fulham’s want away striker in this window. SkyBet have Arsenal as short as 11/10 for his signature with Tottenham out at 100/30.

But we think that, as a short term option, Berbatov to Tottenham is impossible to ignore. He may have left in slightly acrimonious circumstances but we are sure that he would be the first to admit that Spurs is where he played his best football – his spiritual football home in England.

The Telegraph, among others, reported the link again yesterday.

The 32 year old has been on fire since he joined Fulham. He’s been off the pace in his club’s tragic season so far but he was never been one of those players who is crucial when backs are against the wall. Instead Berbatov offers composure in the final third and the odd piece of guile that can make the difference in a tight game.

Tottenham have Christian Eriksen pulling the strings behind the front one or two these days. He’s doing a great job and will surely keep his place. But we think that Berbatov could still add depth and quality to Tottenham’s squad in the second half of the season. Arsenal may or may not be keen but Tottenham is a far better fit for Berba.

Tottenham fans. Would you welcome him back?

Kalou? This guy is not a centre forward who can play through the middle by himself with back to goal. So he is no replacement if adebayor gets injured it has to be berbatov. Kalou is more like a wingforward and lamela, Townsend are better than him so forget kalou what a joke….
