Tottenham linked with a genuine world beater

What a coup this signing would be

Check out old Tim Sherwood. What a dark horse eh? We had our reservations about whether he had the requisite experience for the job when he took over from AVB at the end of last year. Indeed, the pessimists might say that this current run of Tottenham form is simply down to a change being as good as a rest.

But there is a growing feeling that Tim Sherwood may well be the man for the Tottenham job long-term. Promoting from within doesn’t seem particularly en vogue in The Premier league but what Spurs do now have is someone that knows the club inside out.

Results have improved and certain players’ performances have shot up on the quality scale. Whatever the boss has done to Emmanuel Adebayor , the Togo international looks like a new man.

Anyway, it will be very interesting to see what happens over the next 12 months at Tottenham. One story that has surfaced today is that Spurs could be after Manchester United and Arsenal target Marco Reus.

This guy, we have to say, is absolute mustard. He’s a goalscoring midfielder of the very highest calibre. He’s broken nets for fun wherever he’s played bagging 37 in 99 for Borussia Mönchengladbach before joining Dortmund (22 goals in 49 games) in 2012. He also has 7 in 19 at international level for good measure.

At 24 he’s coming into his pomp and everyone seemingly wants him. He’s apparently got a release clause of around 35m Euro for those who are serious about snaring the German. The Metro today reports:

Tottenham have identified Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus as their No.1 summer signing if they qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Director of football Franco Baldini will be authorised to bring in high calibre players to help head coach Tim Sherwood turn Spurs into Premier League titles candidates and a European force.

With Germany likely to be one of the starring teams in Brazil the player’s value will surely only increase by late summer and a bidding war will probably ensue for his services.

Take a look at the midfield magician in action. Tottenham fans does this guy boil your potatoes?

All the hype about buying a world class striker , but put things in perspective ….we need t get to 4th in the table to attract this type of player …….prior to that we need a LEFT back
and at least a loan or cheap signing up front …….NOT THE BULGARIAN EITHER

Forget any idea of Reus playing at the lane next season, even if we finish top 4. If he’s still up for grabs in a couple of years time and we’re in CL consistently, then yeah, we could stand a chance. As it is there’s more attractive options for him…one being staying where he us.

As a Tottenham fan, this is awesome to see. As a Dortmund fan, this is absolutely laughable. Dortmund are consistently in the champs league, Tottenham are never in the champs league. Dortmund’s stadium seats almost 90,000, Tottenham’s seats almost 40,000. Dortmund is Reus’s hometown, there is no way in hell he would leave for a smaller club.
