There has been much talk in January about Manchester United boss David Moyes raiding his old club for players. The jury is still out about whether he got the right midfielder when he bought Marouane Fellaini for £27.5 million in the summer. Many believe that Ross Barkley would have been a much better option. Looking at some of the performances that the young Englishman has been putting in this season, it’s not hard to see why.
But Everton seem serious about holding on to the player as long as possible so David Moyes must look elsewhere if he wants to add players the the Manchester United midfield.
But one name that has popped up in a betting column is Toffees right back Seamus Coleman. The 25-year-old who has 20 caps for The Republic of Ireland has been a stalwart for the club over the last couple of seasons blossoming into a brilliant defender and marauding wingback. He’s full of energy and has a consistenly good delivery when he does get into advanced positions.
Bookmaker SkyBet has opened a market on the player moving in the winter window. At odds of 9/2 Manchester United are the favourite to sign the player before February. Meanwhile Bet Victor also have United as favourites for the Irishman’s signature at 4/1.
But with steely determination to hold onto his better players we think Roberto Martinez will try to avoid major departures in January at all costs.

Think you’ll find that Everton are favourites to have Coleman beyond January simply because they have him on a long contract. The player is happy. Why would he want to drop down to a struggling team. Martinez is a better manager for him Under Moyes he was stifled but Martinez has got him flourishing.
