It’s been a quiet window for Tottenham so far, in terms of transfer speculation, with most of the press concentrating on who might leave the club.

Jermain Defoe bade farewell to Tottenham last week after ending his second stint at the club to freeze his nuts off with a move to Toronto.

And the news of potential departures continues. After signing so many players in the summer it was always going to be a case of seeing what sticks and getting rid of the rest. The latest player to be linked with a departure is midfielder Etienne Capoue. The 25 year old, signed from Toulouse for £9m in the summer, got rave reviews with his first few appearances for the club but then got injured and lost his place in the team.

We never rated the lad that highly and believe that Tottenham have much better options than him in the midfield. The Metro today reports that he could be on his way to Italy.

Capoue has seen his first season in England hampered by injury, making only eight Premier League appearances since his £9million switch from Toulouse, and Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is eager to take the powerful midfielder to Serie A.

New Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood appears to favour youngster Nabil Bentaleb and reports in Italy claim a £7million offer has already been lodged with Napoli now awaiting a response.

Bentaleb – now there’s a player. As for Capoue, he’s only had 7 starts for Tottenham (the same number of international caps that he has for France) so perhaps it’s a little too early to make a judgement on a player who wasn’t exactly cheap.

Tottenham fans, should the manager being ruthless and get rid of the player now what do you think he deserves more time to impress?

He is a good player, will become a great player the problem being he was the only player AVB signed the rest of the summer signings belong to Baldini. Some has to go, let’s get real puppet Sherwood has no say on who goes and who stays.

Must stay!! His job is to break up play and set things going and he does this better than any of our holding players, including paulinho and Sandro, and most definitely bentalab!!
They’ll be making one huge mistake getting rid of capoue! And every game he’s played before his injury he was very impressive for the job he did, and I feel Benitez knows his players better than Sherwood!!
