Manchester United: The Perfect Transfer Window

Gundogan - a tidy player but is he what United needs?

The dream window for United?

Let’s start by saying that David Moyes will be lucky to get one big target to join Manchester United in January – let alone 5. Even The Wolf of Wall Street might struggle to charm real gems in to the club during this window.

With World Cup places at stake top players are unlikely to want to make a move – unless of course they happen to be top players who aren’t getting a game at their current club.

But, in a perfect world, we think David Moyes’ January transfer window might look something like this.

5 IN

Juan Mata – few have the playing style of Cesc Fabregas. But Mata does and we know that Manchester United wanted the ex-Arsenal man. Mata is potentially available this window as Jose Mourinho seems to have a surplus of creators in his midfield. Short of swapping Rooney, Manchester United should do everything they possibly can to get this guy in Janaury. He’s an imperious modern footballer who could totally transform the Manchester United midfield.

Ilkay Gundogan – Been out with injury since the autumn but his class is permanent. He’s an adaptable midfielder who can fulfil all manner of roles – never gives the ball away. Top class.

Luke Shaw – Young but already good enough for Manchester United. An investment that would yield 15 years of service.

Eliaquim Mangala – He seems available at the right price. This guy is a man mountain who would solidify any defence. Young and full of promise.

Andros Townsend – Manchester United need more quality out wide and this guy has it in abundance. Worth a punt even though he’s injured.

5 OUT

Anderson – He plays with heart but can regularly look a bit off the pace. Struggled with injury and inconsistency – sadly it’s time for the charismatic Brazilian to leave.

Nani – Can go from looking world-class to resembling a man who has never played the game, in the space of 90 minutes. The most frustrating player ever to pull on the United shirt? Time to move on.

Ashley Young – Just not good enough for a top Manchester United squad.

Tom Cleverley – Manchester United looked better without him in the team against Swansea at the weekend.

Marouane Fellaini – It obviously won’t happen but we feel that the longer Manchester United keep this guy the less money they will recoup when they eventually realise that he’s not good enough.

Manchester United fans, what would your dream window look like? Try to stay within the realms of realism/optimism please!
