IL GUARO is the nickname of the Colombian footballer Freddy Guarin, who is being linked to Manchester United by various sources in the latest news cycle.
David Moyes is reported to have sent a team of emissaries to Italy to discuss a deal that would see the versatile Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarín head to Old Trafford in January. Internazionale are prepared to sell Guarín, who would be available for approximately £15m, can play in a variety of positions, and is eligible to participate in the Champions League.
The 27 year old has 47 caps for Columbia, scoring 3 goals. He has played a similar number games for Inter (with 7 goals) after an initial loan spell at the club in 2012. He usually plays in the centre or the right side of midfield and Moyes may like the adaptability of the player.
Having played in Portugal with Porto, aswell as spells in France and Italy, the player is well versed in the ways of European football. He’s 6ft tall and has been linked with Tottenham and, more recently Barcelona.
With so many names being thrown into the hat it’s hard to decant the truth from the fiction in terms of United transfers. Suffice to say Moyes must surely have a wishlist by now and this guy is reportedly on it. Guarin has a great engine and likes to get forward aswell as doing the more defensive parts of his job well. Overall, we think he would be a decent, if less than stellar, addition to Manchester United’s team.
Let’s see Guarin in action and you can make up your own minds about him.
