The Good News for Manchester United

David Moyes

United need to address the centre of midfield urgently

After 20 years of pre-eminence, Manchester United fans are in a quagmire of depression, in the wake of another home defeat to a team that they were expected to beat. Take nothing away from Everton, who were exceedingly bright.

Indeed, in Ross Barkley, they have exactly what Manchester United need and lack – namely dynamism in the centre of midfield. Hindsight is always 20/20 but surely, surely Moyes must have considered spending the Fellaini money on Barkley instead? Another abject performance from The Belgian highlighted the fact that United are £30m worse off but no better in the middle of the park.

So here is the good news. With Manchester United playing so poorly they are more likely than ever to spend big in the January transfer window. It’s not traditionally an ideal time to spend but, with Champions League qualification for next season now seriously under threat, Manchester United have little choice but to attempt to bring in 2 or 3 top players. A club which is run so strictly like a business will be painfully aware of the financial ramifications of finishing lower than fourth. But after a dismal autumn that is now a realistic possibility.

It’s not yet time to expect the end of the empire in Liverpool proportions. Manchester United can still have success in The Champions League and the domestic cups. But not playing like that they won’t.

Unless Moyes addresses the hole in the centre of his midfield Manchester United are in deep trouble. They have decent quality around the edges but are useless in the centre. Phil Jones and Micheal Carrick will strengthen that area upon return, but neither has the sort of mobility, dribbling skill or positivity that we saw from Barkley last night. While he broke, time and again with menace through the middle, 40 year old Ryan Giggs was left to carry the fight for Manchester United.

After 70 minutes Manchester United looked knackered. The reason for this? They don’t control possession like they used to so they have to expend more energy closing down and winning the ball back.

Manchester United are largely ok in defence and attack. But the need for better quality wide men is pressing and they are desperately short in the centre of the park. These weaknesses need to be addressed urgently and Moyes doesn’t have the money or time to buy the wrong players again.

I agree that there needs to be a mobile defensive and attacking midfielder. Fellie looked so good in Everton cos he played more upfront and the others around him had good mobility and what Fell has is body strength but no speed. He should be sold, together with cleverly, and Welbeck who cant score for nuts.
Moyes if u r rebuilding the team, then forget this year. maybe it is good Man u don’t win anything this year and finish off in mid table. The bigger problem is the glazers who have refused to provide the cash to sigh top quality players. They are lying to everyone in typical American corporate greed fashion. Supporters of the club must perhaps hope for sale of the club to a better owner who puts football first, the fans second and profits third..

That is absolute madness, we can continue to tolerate this any longer, Infact if he doesn’t have the time to go for first class players this January then the management should know what to do with him before he destroy the reputation of the club. Why did ferguson chooses David moyes as his successor when better coaches are there to take over from him, I fact David moyes doesn’t have that quality to coach manchester united when pep guadiola ,kloops and others are their to succeed ferguson ,inview of this ,as a matter of urgency, is either he go for first class players this January or he should be sack if not the chancses of Manchester united qualifying for next year champions league is as stake though it is too early but still he must know that this manchester united not everton.

We re in abject mess and catastrophe wit Moyes at the helm of affairs of a club who ve such an enviable records. Its time to offload both players and coach who ve really brought shame to Man Utd this season. I support strongly in the sacking of players like Anderson, Young, Cleverly, Nani, Welbeck even Valencia cos dey re all making no impact to our moving on. Quality players shud be recruited by january if we are to save ourselves dis looming shame.

moyes should just sell fellani and young, nani and welbeck

why moyes doesn’t play anderson I don’t know.

we need strootman and a creative midfielder.

moyes should stick to carrick or jones as a defensive midfielder and cleveryly or kagawa in midfield.

    keane scholes partnership.

defensive and creative, every team has those type of players.

and buy two better wingers but play zaha and januzaj.

get it right moyes or go back to licking fellanis bum hole at everton.

and DO NOT BUY BAINES! A 40YR OLD LEFT BACK!

    buy the Southampton kid

Why do we need Giggs,at the age of 40 he is not competitive enough.we have seen if few season ago.he shouldn’t be in the first eleven.Chris smalling, I would call him Mr panic. He is a bad bad defender.first it was Alex ferguson who failed to buy attacking midfielder and now David moyes.i don’t think we will finish in top four this season

Fellaini was a waste of 27.5 mil when we could have used that money for a better midfielder like gundogan or modric we need a creative midfielder to build us up from deep to help carrick..moyes makes stupid subs at time we behind in a game he takes off kagawa an experianced player to put on nani who jus plays for the crowd he does not play for the shirt his wearing and we need a nother centre back as we saw vidic struggle for strength and pace against a young lukaku wat would happen if his up against a quicker player like messi?

The reason our players look knackered is not because they are spending more time chasing the ball, it’s because Moyes insists on training them to near exhaustion twice a week, so they don’t have enough left on match day.
If you sack Moyes, do you really think that things will change overnight, when he sacked the Ferguson backroom staff in favour of people who had never won anything, he went against Fergusons advice, it’s going to take years to put that right now, it can’t be done overnight.
Allowing Moyes to spend money in January is also foolhardy, his one signing in the summer didn’t even make the bench today, and spent most of the game texting on his mobile phone.
