Barcelona have so many good young players that even the best teams in Europe start collectively dribbling when they hear that one might want out of the club. These clubs usually couldn’t give the arse of one rat about who that player actually is. Such is the quality of the youth academy, La Masia , that scouts froth at the mouth at the mere mention of mutiny.
You have as good a chance as any, I suppose, of getting a world beater from Barcelona’s off-cuts. One such player, who has regularly been linked with a move away from the Spanish club, over the last year or so, is Christian Tello.
The 22 year old is an absolutely smashing player who would waltz in to most clubs with his pipe and slippers on. Pipe lit. Slippers up-turned at the end for the sheer billy big balls cheek of it. Tello has even turned out for a senior Spain international side which is in the process of winning everything – twice.
Nominally a winger, he can play anywhere across the front line. In short, he would be a brilliant player for Tottenham – someone who could not only score a bunch of goals but also create for his teammates. The lad needs game time and Tottenham need goals.
Tello is quoted in The Daily Star as saying:
“You wait and see how the season goes and if by the end I do not play what I want, I will raise out,” Tello said.
“Taking that step will be quite difficult but I think we appreciate the role of each.
“As the years pass you want the role change and have more minutes.”
The newspaper could well have used Google translate here – but we think he’s saying that if he doesn’t get more time in the team he’s off.
Along with Liverpool, Tottenham are 10/1 favourites with bookmakers Skybet to sign the player in the January window. Let’s take a look at the lad in action and, Tottenham fans, let us know whether you think he would fit into the side.
