Manchester United – world beater linked – could it be true?

Great news or just gash?

If Manchester United could buy an attacking midfielder of real quality then it could make the entire team click.

Sir Alex Ferguson didn’t leave a bad group for David Moyes to inherit. Far from it. This is a squad with great depth and many strengths. But if there is a weakness it’s in the middle of the park.

The injury to Michael Carrick, who could be out for 6 weeks, has highlighted the fragility of the Manchester United midfield roster.

With Carrick out Manchester United can only call on Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones and Ryan Giggs. If you exclude the defender (although Jones’ best games have arguably come in midfield) and the 40-year-old, you’re left a big money signing who is underperforming and an Englishman in development deep-freeze.

No wonder that speculation is rife about who Manchester United might buy in the winter window.

Today The Daily Mail suggests that it could be Andres Iniesta of Barcelona. Far-fetched as it sounds, The Mail reckons that contractual issues at the Spanish club have unsettled the brilliant midfielder and that he might look for a move in January.

This story could well have been fabricated as a ploy to increase Iniesta’s bargaining strength at his current club. Iniesta has always seemed very settled at Barcelona and has never indicated publicly that he would want to leave.

Nevertheless The Daily Mail says:

David Moyes is weighing up a sensational New Year move for Andres Iniesta after being alerted to a growing rift between the Barcelona midfielder and his Nou Camp bosses.

Manchester United manager Moyes is carefully monitoring events in Barcelona and could follow up his interest with a bid in the January window, if he feels there is a genuine chance of pulling off a transfer that would rank as one of the most audacious the Barclays Premier League has known.

Although he’s been around for donkeys, he still only 29, which makes him three years younger than United’s best current midfielder. We are assuming that you Manchester United fans would be more than happy with this addition to the team.

Let’s have a look at the legend in action and let us know if you think this is a realistic option for Manchester United or just the normal gash that you get in the press when a major player is negotiating a new contract at his club.

As much as the iniesta story may seem outrageous considering the dedication and commitment he has shown to barca,i encourage David Moyes to take his chances if indeed the midfielder is unsettled at barca coz he is the best midfield solution we can hope for.

if iniesta still hasn’t signed a contract come January, moyes get him!! Anyway we should pay Reus’ clause and trade Kagawa with gundogan. What a team that would be!!
