That’s not to say that he is a particularly good looking playmaker -it’s his football that is stunning – I hope we have cleared that up.
Anyway, despite spending a huge amount of money in the summer window, the rumours have not abated about Tottenham adding numbers again in the winter.
It is obvious that they will need to reinforce the striking department at some stage. Speculation is mounting Jermaine Defoe might leave the club and Emmanuel Adebayor remains a bit-part player at Tottenham.
But today Tottenham have been linked with a midfielder. Barcelona seem to have a conveyor belt of talent with brilliant youngsters hatching every day.
Obviously they can only use so many players at once which, at Barcelona, leaves a big surplus. That, in turn, leads to lots of interest from other clubs.
According to The Guardian Tottenham are apparently interested in Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto. They say:
he (AVB) is going to try get his hands on a 21-year-old central midfielder from Barcelona by the name of Sergi Roberto.
The Mirror says that Liverpool are also keen and The Daily Star speculated yesterday:
LIVERPOOL and Tottenham Hotspur are ready to fight for the signature of Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto, with the youngster remaining out of favour with boss Gerardo Martino.
Numbers like 20m euros have been thrown around in relation to this transfer story so the kid must be pretty decent. He’s only 21 and hasn’t yet broken into the Barcelona side properly. Since 2010 he only made six appearances for the senior side.
But he is clearly thought of highly in Spain and has been picked at every youth level for the national side.
Let’s see the lad in action. Tottenham fans do you need another midfielder? Liverpool fans do you need this midfielder?

MOST OF OUR BUYS EITHER STILL HAVE TO PROVE THEMSELVES OR INDEED SPURS TO ADMITT THE BUYS ARE NOT PREMIERSHIP STANDARD , ANY PLAYER WOULD BY NOW HAVE FOUND THEIR FEET OR THEY ARE JUST HERE FOR THE MONEY .

Totally brainless comment, just showing how little you know about football. Lots of players take a whole season to acclimatise to the premiere league. History is full of players like Bergkamp and Henry that were massive after very slow starts to their careers in England. Only Soldado and Paulino are on big money the rest earn about £40k a week hardly massive by top premiere league standards.
