This was the chant of the Chelsea fans during a 0-0 draw against Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night. In a sad indictment of the hugely talented Chelsea squad, it was Fulham’s players, and in particular Dimitar Berbatov, who was left to blow the trumpet of football wizardy.
But the chants of ‘We want our Chelsea back’ are a little confusing to the impartial onlooker. Which Chelsea do they want back? The one that was £80m in debt at the end of Ken Bates reign? The one that was, at best, a decent cup side for 3 decades? Surely not.
Roman Abramovich is clearly a ruthless man. Many would debate some of his decisions, and the timing of. But if you want the money, the trophies, the players and all the good memories that Roman has masterminded, then you also have to take the bad bits on the chin.
What Abramovich shares with all the Chelsea supporters is a desire to win every game and he’s spent over half a billion pounds in pursuit of glory. Indeed, there is a theory that Chelsea have been successful because of the revolving doors policy regarding coaches.
Chelsea are in a bit of a slump but only by modern standards. Before Roman came 3rd place in the league and Champions League medals would have pleased most Chelsea fans no end. So doesn’t Roman deserve a little more credit?
What do you think? Are the boos for Roman’s new man a little unfair? Has Roman bred impatience amongst the fans? Or do you really want a pre-Abramovich Chelsea back? Answers on an e-card please.

i think the current situation of Chelsea is because the impatient of the owner and the supporter itself, and worst to worst the owner is taking the risk to have Mr.Benitex around is really upset the supporter, plus again the slump of winning mentality of the Chelsea players, so the best way to handle it the management should re-consider of Torres to be sold, no point of him to be tagged as the club record striker what a waste of mentality and money, and his present is pain in the ass of CFC

I agree Dominic. Yes it was a bit of a bad spell but which Chelsea manager has never had one of those. The Fat Spanish Waiter is not worthy of being connected with anything Chelsea. Get the squatter out of our club!

Children(?) Norman?
Just disillusioned, disappointed supporters. Are you saying the only opinion that matters is yours?
You call anyone whom has a differing opinion to you, a “child”?
You must have low self esteem to put others down like that.

I’ve no idea how you drew those conclusions from my comment. My point was simply that chants like “we want our Chelsea back” reflect a child-like mentality as they are voiced without consideration of the consequences should their request be granted.
