Shaktar Donetsk star Willian, who played a central role in defeating Chelsea on Tuesday night, has stated his desire for a move to Chelsea.
The adaptable 24 year old midfielder ran amock against The Blues on Tuesday and he has stated that his time at Shaktar may be coming to an end.
Whether Chelsea have room for another midfield creator, at this point in time, remains to be seen but that hasn’t sated Willian’s thirst for Chelsea.
‘I would like to move from Shakhtar, my work here is complete. I would like to play in a big team in a big tournament, like the Premier League or Serie A. I like Chelsea, AC Milan and Inter.’
‘I knew Chelsea wanted me in the past, but the club didn’t want leave me, I think, about the price.’
The Brazilian, who has also been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, joined Shaktar in 2007 for around 12m Euros. He’s more of a provider than a goal scorer but still has a healthy goal ratio at senior level of around 1 in 5.
Chelsea have a wealth of creative midfielders already but Brazilian players tend to settle well in England and seem to have a great temperament for The Premier League. So perhaps Willian will eventually join a growing number of samba stars at Stamford Bridge.
