Manchester United – When will Fergie splash the cash?

It’s been another strange summer so far in terms of Manchester United signings. Rather than getting a big player early doors The Reds have bought a decent looking Japanese lad and another youngster with potential.

Other than that we have had to get by on odds and sods and put up with spurious speculation based on a mate’s mum’s brother who’s dog apparently picked up a bit of paper from Carrington which has Fergie’s summer shortlist of signings on it.

When are we going to get some solid signing action? The latest line is that we are waiting for EURO 2012 to finish before the next big move. But United’s supposed targets have all gone home by now. Modric, Lewandowski and Sneijder have all left the tournament, whilst other top players such as Bale and Neymar didn’t even go. So what are we waiting for?

Perhaps it’s just another summer where Manchester United are simply missing out on their top targets such as Eden Hazard? Let’s hope this isn’t going to be another close season of drip fed disappointment. Because I will not be swayed from the opinion that United need another star performer, as good as Rooney, to make United a top force once more. I don’t buy the ‘no value in the market’ line. If United were spending £28m on Veron 10 years ago then surely £40m for Bale would represent good value now?

So are Manchester United just being prudent, are the coffers really drying up or do we simply have all the players that we need already?

As Jim Royle would say, “Prudent, my arse!” not when we were “prudent” spending £7.4M on Bebe.

I reckon the PR/spend/timing on Kinaga and Powell was spin to sell season tickets. The Glazers don’t do owt for nowt!

Given that Sir Alex is still on holiday and our accounting year end does not end until the end of this month, nothing will happen now until early July.

After season ticket sales income has come in as well as annual payments from proze money and sponsorship, United can expect to have around £60m in the bank in July. I’m not suggesting that that amount will be spent, and many acquisition costs can be spread over a number of years anyway, but I think there is money there for another signing or two if needed.

When you consider that the exits of Berbatov (£4m), Owen (£1m) and possibly Park (£3m) and Anderson (£3m) will free up around £11m a year in available salaries – or £7.5m after the acquisition of Kagawa – there is room for a big name signing on wages of around £130,000 a week if needed.

Personally, I think we’ll pick up two more players.

I believe strongly every man united fan will love the idea of Bale arriving but I know for sure spurs wouldn’t just give in. We all wanted sneijder to arrive at our club but it was good fergie never splashed the money on him cos she has been a flop

Not very clever are ya feller. We got 2 of our top targets in the world class Kagawa and talented Powell, modric is not a target nor a big name player and neither is bale. If you think modric, hazard and bale are big names yet Kagawa isnt than your an idiot as Kagawa is better than modric, bale and equal to hazard. I suggest you stop writing as you know nothing of football nor MANUTD.

Kagawa is a great buy at 12m rising to 17m, he is creative, quick, a goal scorer, 2 footed, can play midfield, wing and off forward, he is a fantastic world class player and we landed a sweet deal for him clearly worth 30m if not for last year of contract at dortmund. We landed 2 of our top targets in Kagawa and Powell and missed hazard – modric and bale are not targets. bale isnt worth 40m, modric isnt worth 35m, these pricetags are because Spurs are skint. Kagawa is world class, he is a big name player and our main target but since you think different you clearly know little. We do not want nor need modric or bale. I suggest you stay away from newspapers. Where’s your piece on james rodriguez, papers talking on him alot, but that right you dont know of him and just obsessed with modric stories.

Fergie has ran short of ideas and i bet you are right the coffers are already dried up. it sounds silly to me that “there is no real value in the market”. As the article goes all man united targets are out of the euros. Madrid are already said to be set to make an offer for Modric when Fergie should have closed the deal long ago while no one was competing for the guyz signature. Honestly, does fergie want to imagine he can even compete with madrid? or is it just a trick to make a late offer when modric is gone to please the fans that he tried but was beaten by the big spenders? If he has been unable to do it by now he is not going to do it in the near future. all the best players will be gone by then. i dont see him even making an approach for modric let alone bale. the once european big guns cannot even compete with arsenal now who seem to have wrapped up a deal for striker Giroud and Podolski is in the ranks already…!! buying players who can only make an impact close to 7years from now and keeping hold of guys who only feed on their huge salaries and warm the bench and uniteds medical rooms surely doesnt make any sense to me.
Fergie has become a big disappointment and should call it day.

Podolski and Giroud arent even big name players, Podolski is a relegation forward who has gone dwn 3 times and Giroud is a 2nd diivision player who only just played in the french top flight whiles Kagawa is a world class star so I suggest you come to the real world. I also suggest you get lost if you think Fergie should go as that shows you are nothing but a gloryhunter or a deluded scared ABU as Sir Alex knows what he is doing and has just signed a world class player in Kagawa. Big price tags do not make big players, remember Milner at 26m, Adebayor, Lescott and Santa Cruz all at 25m each, De Jong 19m, kolarov 17m, all signed by City and none are big name players. You can get big names a good prices afterall we got Chicharito 6m, Van Der Sar 2m, Vidic 7m, Evra 5.5m, Park 4m, Young 16m, Valencia 15m, Carrick 18.6m, Nani 17m, Anderson 20m, Smalling 10m, De Gea 18m – all under the Glazers and at different prices and all good business, not everything comes down to a “price tag”. Kagawa is a great signing and will help us take back our Premier Lge Title whiles podolski and giroud will cost Arsenal 20m combined and will do nothing., plus arsenal lacks cash and will now have to sell (admitted by Wenger) to fund another purchase whiles we will go and buy another player with our cash nowhere near dry. Kagawa with world stars such as Chicharito, Rooney, Welbeck, Nani, Valencia, Scholes, Giggs, Vidic, De Gea, Cleverley, Young, Fletcher, Carrick, Evans, Evra, Lindegaard is just frightening + maybe another signing, it is terrifying just how good our world class squad is and with no injuries we will walk to the Title.

See someone cant handle truth as my comment is gone, big surprise. Kagawa haves 86 gls and 45 asst in 198 club gms with 29 gls and 15 asst in 71 gms for dortmund, he played a key role in 2 german titles and the german cup and was the creative force behind the double, he won the asian cup with japan where he has hit 11 gls in 33 gms and is the main man in bid for 2014 world cup qualification. Kagawa is a world class player. He is a big name signing and one of our main targets, and a great buy at 12m rising to 17m when he would of cost atleast 30m if not for last year of his contract. Kagawa and Powell are 2 main target buys, hazard was another but took chelsea money over Utd, modric is not even a target so stop believing the papers. Modric is not wanted or needed at Utd as not good enough, I wont believe we want modric until we make a bid which we hasnt, and we dont even want bale. Kagawa can play midfield, wing or behind forward, he is quick, creative, a goalscorer, 2 footed and extremely talented – Kagawa is far better than modric, bale and equal to hazard. You are entitled to your opinion but dont talk rubbish at same time, Modric and Bale are not worth the 35m, 40m pricetags anyway, 20m at best. Kagawa is a great buy, perfect for our world class squad and I can not wait to watch him at OT dominating opponents with likes of Chicharito, Rooney, Welbeck. Giggs, Scholes, Valencia, Cleverley and Nani. The future is bright.

As a staunch supporter of this mightly club, I am an admirer of Sir Fergie. I would never ave imagine that he would become a marionette of anyone in this sport. I am amazed at how the Glazers manipulate him into making lame excuses such as “there is no value in the market” just to divert attention while they are looting the coffers on the poor Old Trafford faithful to fund their extravagant lifestyles. OMG, can anyone please stand up and help us? We are loosing out on players like Hazard, Modric, Yaya who join our competitiors. We are becoming mediocre by the day. I so wish Sir Alex reads our posts (which is an expression of our frustrations) and consider that we suffer for this team. Do you wanna tell me that players like Sweinnsteiger, Hummels, Veloso, Moutinho etc, are of no value compared to the ones we have? Sir Alex please, I plead with you. I am regularly being ridiculed and humiliated by my peers due to my unwavering loyalty to Man Utd given its rapid decline. Please help.

Fergie has done it again with the super signing of the world class Kagawa, totally worth the 17m and I cant wait for the new season with this exciting young super squad. With attacking players like Chicharito, Rooney, Cleverley, Giggs, Scholes, Nani, Valencia, Kagawa, Young, Carrick and Welbeck we have great attacking threat and creativity in the side, be nice if Tunnicliffe, Cole, Lingard and Petrucci get look in. If we can avoid major injuries this time we will easily walk to the title, I dont sweat that ordinary mancity or chelsea at all and neither does United. Maybe another signing will come but wait and see, dont believe the newspapers or any news unconfirmed by Utd. The future is bright, the future is MANUTD.

I totally agree with Nam@ that Fergie is making these excuses for the Glazers because we havnt got the money we previously had to compete for the best players, they are ruining the club with debts. I agree that Kagawa is a great signing for good money and Powell is good player and one for the future but not a big name signing, @AJ your fckn deluded get a hold of yourself your talking bollox !
