The good thing about getting a new manager is that you can pretty much guarantee a raft of new signings as the incoming coach puts his mark, midas touch or stench on the squad.
There appears to be a consensus, from outside Anfield at least, that three players will soon be on their way to Liverpool as the rebuilding for the next incarnation of this great club begins.
The three names on the lips are Adam Johnson, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Italian forward Fabio Borini.
soccersweep thinks that the signing of Gylfi Sigurðsson is a given. He’s 22, has worked wonders for Rodgers already and at £8-10m he won’t break the bank. He has a superb long range shot and is a set piece maestro. We just wonder whether he has the pace to become a top player, or whether he’s another in the image of Charlie Adam – tidy but not athletic enough to really shape games.
Adam Johnson certainly doesn’t lack athleticism. He will get up and down the line all day long. Well, up the line anyway. He has been castigated by current coach Roberto Mancini for not supporting his full back enough when City don’t have the ball. But there are certainly no problems with his attacking prowess. He’s a more explosive, less predicatable version of Stewart Downing and we think he would be a real success for Liverpool and provide much needed quality out wide for people like Andy Carroll to profit from.
Fabio Borini didn’t do enough in his time at Chelsea to get a longer contract but he did do enough to impress Brendan Rodgers. After he left Chelsea Rodgers took Borini on loan with him to Swansea and was repaid handsomely as the striker scored a very healthy 6 goals in 9 games . At 21 he has so much time to develop and appears to have the raw materials to do well at the top level. He’s quick, mobile and has a really tidy touch. If he does come he looks like he will be a decent quality addition to the squad.

I can see Sigurdsson and Borini being very astute buys. I would not go for Johnson but rather snap up Boudebouz from Sochaux – a player that has all the attributes required by FSG and Rodgers. He can play in any of the four roles across the midfield and has a sharp sense for the front line and goal! Price? in the region of £5m or thereabouts. A steal.

Gylfi looks to b O.K, Johnson also O.k, Borini not sure. My fellow Liverpool faithful don’t u think we need a quality attacking winger frm both left & right to unlock a defence strong centraly bt prone in ful back. There for nt only Adam J frm d wing. YNWA

The sign of a top manager is paying average and getting the best out of players, just like Wenger has done repeatedly. I can see both Gylfi and Borini being those sort of players. I would also add Scott Sinclair if possible, Belhanda from Montpellier and the Chelsea man Daniel Sturridge to play alongside Suarez, difficult to loose players as no one will pay the fees but if possible, out will go Cole, Aquilani, Henderson, Spearing and Brad Jones

Proven where Dutch and Belgium league hardly proven is it , look at Suarez record was outstanding over holland but no so good here , but he’s quality , I have seen borini play at least 10 times and he is just like a young Torres , playing in a good team he will become a great

I want matias fernandez. Loved his style for years n would prob suit rodgers style. Wijnaldum is a quality young player with pace n skill. Would love him. Plus the 3mentioned could do a job. Big thing for me is getting sterling playing more though….

Waste of time to mention who to buy and who not to buy. It’s fun anyway. The scouts and Rodgers are in the market, the can decide for them. Are they buying new players to add to those waste-pipes?

We should buy seedorf, adebayor and sigurdson. This would be my realistic team next season. 433 or 451 Starting 11 reina, defence johnston, agger, srktel, enrique, midfield gerrard, Lucas, seedorf, upfront suarez, adebayor sigurdson.
