Fledgling Flyer to Tottenham?

There has been speculation surrounding the future of the superbly named Manchester United youth Ezekiel Fryers for some time. I wish I was called Ezekiel. Don’t you? Be honest.

His contract has run down to the point that he will be a free agent this summer. Whether he simply wants out or whether Manchester United don’t fancy him is unclear. Either way, the speedy left-back has found first team action hard to come by, with ever fit team captain Patrice Evra in his way until now.

So TalkSport reckons he might be going to Tottenham to compete for the left back birth with Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

It could well happen but, having seen this lad play a few times, we think he needs a lot of refinement and certainly wouldn’t jump straight into the first team. He has the raw pace and athleticism to cut it at the top but sometimes lacks finesse. Surely this will come with age – he’s only 19 for the love of sweet jesus. Give the lad a break for god’s sake  – but perhaps this is why Fergie isn’t running through walls and tapping his watch furiously in order to re-sign the boy.

Sounds kind of like Kyle walker two seasons ago. Had raw pace and athleticism but lacked defensive knowledge, a season on loan to qpr and villa getting games did him a world of good. Walker is now one of the best full backs in the league, if spurs did sign this kid up and take the same approach in a season or so he could be pushing BAE very hard.
